Lauenensee

Situated in the heart of a nature reserve, the splendour of the Lauenensee is an ideal destination for hikers, nature lovers and romantics alike. The rowing boat can be rented on site at the jetty by credit card or Twint.

  • Location: 4 km south of Lauenen
  • Altitude: 1,381 metres above sea level
  • Highlights: Lauenensee circular hiking route, boat hire, wonderful nature reserve, view of the Tungelschuss and Geltenschuss waterfalls

Access to the lake:

  • Recommendation: On foot, by post bus or by bicycle from the village of Lauenen
  • By car: In summer, road up to Lauenensee. Where there is a pay-car park with limited capacity (min. CHF 15.00 up to 6 h / 6 to 24 h CHF 25.00, each additional day plus CHF 7.00). Once the car park is full, the road will be closed. (Road closed in winter, from “Bochte” – For updated status, please refer to https://www.gstaad.ch/en/quick-links/live-info),
  • Privat bus: Minibuses up to 3.5 t may drive to the Lauenensee car park. Vehicles > 3.5 tonnes are not permitted to drive to Lauenensee. Public transport: Bus from Gstaad or Wispile cable car followed by a hike to the lake (see operating dates Wispile: https://bergbahnen-gstaad.ch/en/live-info). Nature reserve Lauenensee (Gelten-Iffigen):
On behalf of the municipality of Lauenen and Gstaad Saanenland Tourism, a ranger protects and promotes the Gelten-Iffigen nature reserve. The ranger supervises the protected area, informs and sensitises the guests about the rules of conduct. Do not hesitate to talk to him, he will be happy to tell you some fascinating anecdotes.
