February concerts Zweisimmen - Segantini Quartett

13.02.2026 , Friday

The 18th "February Festival" in the Reformed Church of Zweisimmen.
The concert association Zweisimmen organizes several church concerts every year, including the "February Concerts" and the two "December Concerts" of the Cantate Choir Zweisimmen.

String Quartets by Ludwig van Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Performers include: Antonio Pellegrini, Marianne Aeschbacher, Sebastian Wohlfahrt, Tobias Moster.

Beethoven's string quartet op. 130 is known for its emotional depth featuring the famous "Great Fugue". Beethoven originally composed this as the 6th movement but had to compose an alternative quartet conclusion at the publisher's insistence. However, the Segantini Quartet performs the original version. The work was composed in 1826, one year before the composer's death.

Mozart's string quartet KV 421 is the composer’s only minor-key quartet, created in 1783 during his work on the great C minor Mass. He dedicated it to his friend Joseph Haydn.

THE SEGANTINI ENSEMBLE was founded in 1989 by the first violinist Antonio Pellegrini and bore his name until the last concert at the Segantini Museum in St. Moritz, after which, alongside simultaneous changes among the instrumentalists, the new name was coined. Antonio Pellegrini and Marianne Aeschbacher teach at the Basel Music Academy, cellist Tobias Moster among others at the Zurich University of the Arts, and violist Sebastian Wohlfahrt is a dedicated educator and contributor to the chamber orchestras in Basel and Heilbronn.
